A local care home is collaborating with a physiotherapy company to provide mobility support for residents.

Shoemaker Place Care Home in Stone, part of the Borough Care Group, recently hosted a free mobility and physio session with Active Life PhysioCare.

The event, on Friday 12 June, marked the beginning of a relationship between the dementia care specialists and the local physiotherapy company.

Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager at Shoemaker Place, said: "It is important for us to forge strong relationships locally so it was great to welcome Jason and Ella from Stone based Active Life PhysioCare.

"They chatted to residents and families about how to improve mobility as we age and the importance of physio rehabilitation after hospital admissions.

"We look forward to welcoming them back to Shoemaker Place soon."

Active Life PhysioCare provides private physiotherapy for older adults that live at home or in care homes in Stone and the surrounding area.

Founder and physiotherapist, Jason Curtis, said: "We saw that there was a need for older adults that live at home or in care homes to access physiotherapy more quickly."

He added: "Within three or four weeks we can get clients from not being able to walk, to literally walking down to the dining room and having a life again.

"Because these places are lovely social hubs and that's one of the reasons the residents are here. If they're suddenly in a room and they can't walk, it takes that away."

Active Life PhysioCare physiotherapist Ella Howells added: "People don't realise how much physio can help and we're quite lucky that we can offer sessions either multiple times a week or once a week.

"The physio very much depends on the person and the situation they are in, and we can chop and change that for each client."
