Plans to extend the players car park at bet365 Stadium, home of Stoke City Football Club, have been withdrawn before a decision could be made.

Mr Richard Smith, of Stoke City (Property) Limited, applied for permission in April to extend the players car park, install an internal path from away coach park, install additional crowd segregation fencing and add four more CCTV columns.

The stadium currently has space for 1889 vehicles in total, but twenty more spaces (for players and staff) were proposed.

A design and access statement, submitted as part of the application, stated: "The proposed car park extension is to provide additional car parking for Stoke City players and staff on a match event.

Stoke City also applied for additional crowd segregation fencing and four more CCTV columns (Nub News).

"The proposed fencing and gates are to provide public safety segregation between home and visiting fans because of relocated visiting fans from the south stand to the southeast corner."

Only three consultee comments were received before the plans were withdrawn, from Ecology, Highways and Flood Authority.

Ecology recommended that an ecological survey was undertaken because the car park extension and additional internal path is within dense trees and bushes.

Flood Authority said: "The proposals appear to be increasing the impermeable area of the site, and must therefore provide a drainage strategy to demonstrate how the increased surface water runoff will be managed."

And Highways said: "Considering that these proposals are likely to have little affect on the existing operation of the highway, the LHA would not seek to resist this application".
