Plans for brand-new flats on vacant land in Stoke-on-Trent have been submitted to the local council.

The applicant, Mr Singh, has approached the council for permission to build six self-contained one-bedroom flats on Regina Street in Smallthorne.

The 468 square meter site was formerly a Methodist church but the land has been vacant for some time.

A two-storey building is proposed, with three flats containing a bedroom and bathroom and a shared living kitchen area on each floor.

New vehicle access would also be built along with a parking area for up to six cars (including two EV charging spaces) and six bicycles.

The applicant wants to build six one-bedroom flats along with a car parking area and new vehicle access (Nub News).

Comments have already been received from Air Quality and Ecology and neither department raised any concerns with regard to the proposals.

Highways recently submitted a comment also supporting the plans which states: "The proposal is situated within an existing residential area and close to a local centre offering easy access to a range of services.

"Ford Green Road is well served by public transport and further services and facilities are accessible on foot and by bicycle. It can therefore be concluded that the proposal is appropriate in accessibility."

A decision is expected regarding these plans in the coming months.
