The Triumph Motorcycles warehouse in Longton could be demolished and redeveloped, if plans are given the green light.

The motorbike firm has applied for planning permission to replace the "degrading" warehouse and storage extension unit currently attached to the grade II listed building at St Mary's Mill.

Triumph has been at the site on Uttoxeter Road for the past 25 years and currently utilises the existing buildings on the site for the storage and quality checking of its motorcycle components.

The application states: "TML is proposing to redevelop an existing employment site of 0.63ha by demolishing in part the existing building extension of approximately 1,419m2 unit and replacing it with a new extension building with a proposed building footprint of 2,260m2.

"The proposed unit will provide 2,260m2 of usable space on the ground floor, with provision for one loading bay with automatic dock levellers and a separate direct entrance point for smaller HGV vehicles via a delivery area and roller shutter."

The proposal states the redevelopment could bring employment opportunities to the local economy.

The application says the proposed total number of employees would increase by three full-time and two part-time employees.

It adds: "The new scheme involves the retention, refurbishment and long-term maintenance of the listed asset, to be integrated into the redevelopment of the wider site and used as ancillary offices, administration and staff facilities."

The proposal also accommodates 12 cycles, 5 EV bays, 2 disabled parking spaces alongside 2 spaces suitable for a HGV.

Height is proposed to align with the height and general overall mass of the neighbouring development.

The consultation on the plan runs until March 7.
