Plans for new café and B&B on busy Stoke-on-Trent road approved
A brand-new café and bed and breakfast facility is set to open on a busy road in Stoke-on-Trent, after a planning application was approved by the city council.
Ms Harki applied for the "change of use to a café and bed and breakfast featuring seven rooms" at 86 Waterloo Road, Stoke-on-Trent.
86 Waterloo Road was formerly a tailor shop and the applicant says work started on the new development back in April 2024 but has not yet been completed.
The ground floor of the building will become a café and the first and second floors will form a B&B with seven rooms.
These plans were approved by Stoke-on-Trent City Council in December and an Officer's Report said: "Given the fact the site is already operating as a main town centre use and the proposed use would be a continuation of this at ground floor level, there is no concern with the proposed use.
"In terms of the bed and breakfast use, each room would be single occupancy only and would have access to an en-suite and would be accessed both internally and externally.
"The applicant has ensured that unathorised access would be prevented externally as shown on the proposed elevations in response to concerns raised by the Police. A condition has been applied to the consent to control this use, by limiting the number of days an occupant can stay for."
The new business will employ three members of staff (two full-time and one part-time) and operate between 7am and 9pm everyday.
