A planning application for a new indoor football activity centre has been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

KIX FC Ltd has applied for the "change of use from temporary homeless accommodation to indoor sport and recreation use including ancillary café" at Unit Four, Park Works, Hanley.

The unit has ten parking spaces and was last used as homeless accommodation until August 2023.

The proposed use of the unit would be an indoor football activity centre, comprising a 3G pitch, street-football and retro football play zones plus other football challenge activities such as a cross-bar challenge.

The pitch and other facilities would be available for hire for coaching, football parties, school and community groups, and individual bookings.

A Sequential Assessment says: "Kix FC Ltd is a start-up business seeking to provide indoor football training space and football related activities and challenges as a leisure use.

"The business seeks to provide an inclusive environment to host football coaching and group sessions, school and community space for hire and individual bookings as a leisure activity.

"The business has connections with the local community and local football groups where there is an identified demand for additional training facilities, particularly in winter months when many community teems are unable to train due to weather and pitch drainage issues."

The new business would create 15 full-time jobs and operate between 10am-10pm Monday to Friday and 9am-10pm Saturday and Sunday.
