A planning application for a new "high quality" residential development with affordable homes in Stoke-on-Trent has been withdrawn, meaning no further action will be taken on the case.

Back in October, Gleeson Regeneration Ltd applied for the "erection of 70 dwellings (including 27 affordable homes) with associated access, acoustic fencing and landscaping" on land in Brindley Ford.

The 3.19 hectares site, to the east of Outclough Road and north of Peck Mill Lane, is currently vacant.

The properties would have been a mixture of one, three and four bedroom homes and a total of 145 parking spaces were proposed as well as new vehicle access.

The plans have now been withdrawn, meaning no further action will be taken (Image via planning application).

A Design and Access Statement submitted as part of the application said: "In addition to new housing, the proposals will also include the provision of substantial on-site open space, hard and soft landscaping, attenuation areas, play areas, road infrastructure and parking.

"A total of 27 (39%) affordable houses will be provided (a mix of 1 bed maisonettes and 2 and 3 bed houses). All affordable homes will be designed to be tenure blind and will be pepper-potted throughout the development to encourage a cohesive and integrated community.

"The proposed development of 70 new homes will make an important contribution to meeting housing need in the local area, including the provision of much needed affordable homes. This will be a high quality development that respects the local character and successfully responds to the constraints of the site."

No objections were received against the plans (Image via planning application).

A total of 11 consultee comments were received, none of which objected to the proposed development, but this week Gleeson Regeneration Ltd withdrew the plans.
