Absurd Person Singular - Stoke Rep Players

Absurd Person Singular is at Stoke Rep Theatre between 10 and 14 December (Stoke Rep Players).

A Stoke-on-Trent theatre company will perform a play which is "full of laughter and poignant social commentary" this Christmas. 

Alan Ayckbourn's classic play Absurd Person Singular returns to the stage this December, offering a sharp and humorous critique of 1970s middle-class life.

The show runs at The Stoke Rep Theatre from Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 December 2024 at 7:30pm each evening, with a matinée performance at 2:30pm on the Saturday.  

Tickets for all performances are available online, direct from the Players Box Office (01782 209784), or by email from [email protected]. Evening tickets are £15.50, and matinée tickets are £12.50. Child and student concessions are £11.00.

The Polar Express Train Ride

The Polar Express Train Ride runs until 23 December (Churnet Valley).

Churnet Valley Railway invites families to experience its "enchanting trip", inspired by The Polar Express.

Visitors will be treated to exciting performances, refreshments and even a gift from Santa.

Organisers say: "The entire magical experience aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS™ 2024 Train Ride lasts around one hour, making it the ideal festive getaway for Stoke residents and visitors alike. Don't miss out on this unforgettable Christmas adventure!"

Sam Ryder Live

Sam Ryder will perform at Victoria Hall this Friday (Sam Ryder).

A singer and songwriter - who gave the UK its best result in Eurovision since 1998 - will perform in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend. 

Sam Ryder will appear at Victoria Hall, Hanley, on Friday 13 December and tickets are on sale NOW. 

The show is one of only six dates on Sam's winter tour - other venues include the O2 Academy in Leicester, Bournemouth and Oxford.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland, "Stoke-on-Trent's best ever outdoor Christmas" kicked off last weekend and will be running until 5 January. 

There is a huge ice rink, thrilling rides and attractions, festive games, lights, trees and Reindeer visits. 

Organisers say: "Take a spin on a fantastic selection of fairground rides, feel the excitement build as you explore a whole host of attractions that cater to all ages, including new for this year the Extreme, Super Trooper and the Take Off."
