Restaurant chain Pizza Hut will close its branch at Festival Park later this month.

Staff were told about the closure on Sunday and the last day of trading will be 26 July.

It comes as both Five Guys and Popeyes released job adverts for managerial positions at new restaurants on Festival Park - but it is yet to be confirmed which units the brands will be based at.

It means Pizza Hut will no longer operate any restaurants in Stoke-on-Trent after also closing its branches in Longton in 2019 and Tunstall in 2016.

But Pizza Hut has a takeaway in Newcastle, on the A34 Liverpool Road, which remains open.

A spokesperson for Pizza Hut UK said: "We continually work with our franchisee partners to evaluate the location of Huts to ensure they are in the best possible areas to meet consumer demand, and unfortunately the Pizza Hut in Festival Retail Park will close.

"We continue to have a strong presence in the area with our Pizza Hut Newcastle-Under-Lyme branch, where customers can continue to enjoy their favourite pizzas."
