A woman in her 70's has died following a crash in Stoke-on-Trent this morning.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the junction of South Drive of Carmountside Crematorium and Leek Road, Milton at 7.54am this morning (December 12) following reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.

An air ambulance was also called to the scene.

The vehicle is described as a small blue/grey car similar in size to a Renualt Clio, or ford Fiesta.

The driver of the car did not stop and left the scene, heading towards Abbey Hulton.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian.

"Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support, which continued en route to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

"The air ambulance crew travelled in the back of the ambulance to help continue treatment.

It added: "Any witnesses, or those with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, are asked to call 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 129 of 12 December."
