A North Staffordshire village is set to crown their 80th Church Queen as the annual carnival and well dressing returns.

The Brown Edge Carnival and Well Dressing will take place tomorrow (Saturday 11 July) on Brown Edge Playing fields behind The Bush pub.

Emma Hunt, Co-chair of Brown Edge Carnival Committee, said: "Brown Edge Carnival and Well Dressing are looking forward to celebrating the crowning of their 80th Church Queen Theadora Willow Corbett this weekend.

"We are so proud that we are keeping our village tradition going strong and we look forward to seeing some familiar and new faces."

The programme for the carnival and well dressing features a dog show, cake competition and float procession among other events.

Visitors to the carnival will also be able to experience a range of activities such as axe throwing, bouncy castles, penalty shootout, basketball shootout, food vendors, and a magician.

There will also be performances by Rebecca Heath Dance School performance, The Salty Badgers band and the SATs performance of Sleeping Beauty.

The team behind the event have also been working alongside local volunteers and organisations, such as Brown Edge Brownies & Rainbows, OUTSIDE and B.Arts, to create the well dressing boards ahead of this weekend.
