A popular zero-waste shop is set to open in Longton next month - relocating from Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Green Grams has been based on Merrial Street, Newcastle, since November 2021 but next month the shop will relocate to Longton Exchange Shopping Centre.
Owner, Sally Bateman, told Stoke Nub News: "We started as a zero-waste shop which is largely plastic free shopping so it's very sustainable but I also use ethical and local suppliers as well so it cuts down on our carbon footprint.
"A lot of the food is organic and customers can bring their own containers or we can provide paper bags - it's all done by weight so people can have as much or as little as they want.
"We're mainly relocating to Longton because of declining footfall in Newcastle, we were going to have the two shops but for the past few months we've been hit by rising bills and footfall plummeting as well - we had to look at it from a business perspective and it was a no brainer - Longton is thriving at the moment"
"I don't regret opening it in Newcastle at all because the customers are absolutely amazing, their passion was huge - the business turned into a community hub of people that cared."
Green Grams also hosts a range of workshops, including art classes, home education and jewellery making on Tuesday 14 November.
Sally also talks very openly about her autism, ADHD and dyscalculia diagnosis and she said: "There is quite a lot of stigma around those things but I'm quite open about it and people contact me saying they really appreciate that I normalise it."
Construction work is currently ongoing on the new unit and Green Grams expects to open early next month.
