A new eatery planned for Stoke-on-Trent has been given the green light to extend their premises to the first floor and construct a roof terrace.

A planning application was submitted for 20-22 Stafford Street, Hanley, for "the change of use of the upper floors to a café, the demolition of the existing water tank and construction of a roof terrace extension".

The building had been vacant but recently signs have appeared on the building advertising Karwan Afghan Cuisine.

Karwan Afghan Cuisine is expected to open soon on the busy Stoke-on-Trent street (Nub News).

An Officer's Report, published by the council, states: "The application site relates to an existing cafe at ground floor level and the proposal seeks to change the upper floors to cafe use as well as construct a glazed roof terrace.

"The proposal would introduce a modern glazed form at roof level which is considered acceptable given the varied building styles in the immediate vicinity, subject to the use of appropriate materials.

"In respect of amenity, the site is already in commercial use and the proposal would introduce the same use at the upper levels as well as within the glazed roof extension."
