A brand-new non-profit organisation is set to launch in Stoke-on-Trent next week which aims to support hidden groups who miss out on statutory support in the local community.

Reaching strives to combat isolation, promote conectedness, improve living conditions and well being through empowering compassionate relationships.

Reaching worked as a project called 'Reaching Out' for the past two years, funded by Stoke-on-Trent City Council as part of post-Covid relief.

Reaching are hosting a launch event on Monday 3 April (Reaching).

CEO Georgia Hilton-Salt told Stoke Nub News: "This project finishes on 31 March so the team made a decision to go out on our own which is how Reaching came about.

"We work with anybody over 18 so we're quite unique in that way - we offer our support to anyone regardless of their issues, we're not about labels, we want to build relationships and find out what the particular person is struggling with and try to help them overcome those hurdles."

"We don't do cooking, care, or cleaning but other than that we can support anywhere we're needed.

"It might be that people need help accessing their local community because they've become quite isolated and sometimes feel let down by statutory services.

"What's special about us is that we help this hidden community of people and we can support them in whatever they need."

Melissa (right) is one of the people currently accessing Reaching CIC develop group support (Reaching).

During the two year 'Reaching Out' project, the team helped over 200 people by developing a close, supportive relationship and working to understand their individual needs.

Georgina said: "That's why we wanted to carry on, we've had such positive feedback for the work that we've done so far and we know how valuable it is."

To raise money, the Reaching team will be climbing Mount Snowdon next month (Reaching).

Reaching CIC has already secured funding from Sport England and The National Lottery, but around 50 staff, friends and family will also be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise money.

£1,300 has already been raised on the team's JustGiving page.
