The new double yellow lines will be installed on Kidsgrove Road in Goldenhill down to Mobberley Road (LDRS).

Double yellow lines will be put in place at a busy junction in Stoke-on-Trent where parked cars are blocking pavements and reducing visibility.

Residents of Kidsgrove Road in Goldenhill have been complaining to ward councillor Dr Chandra Kanneganti over a car parked on the junction of Kidsgrove Road and Mobberley Road.

Kidsgrove Road resident Helen Leech said the car could cause an accident. The 47 year old remarked: "The only problem is the car at the end, if somebody has a wheelchair or pram you can't get past it.

"The car is always there and people can't see if they are pulling out of the junction so it might cause an accident."

According to the plans the new double yellow lines will run for 20 metres down into Mobberley Road and will span to the new pedestrian crossing on Kidsgrove Road which will completely stop parking outside the new builds.

"It is a good idea" according to resident Mary Rowlinson, 41. She commented: "It needs doing, the car is parked there all day and somebody could get hurt. It is a good idea.

"I don't know why you would park there like that. There is a car park at the back or they could park further down the street."

The traffic manager at Stoke-on-Trent City Council has confirmed that the promotion of double yellow lines will be included in the next traffic order and work will be carried out before the end of the year.

The owner of the car which is causing many of the problems on the road confirmed that police have made contact asking him to move the car.

The Goldenhill resident, who did not want to be named, said: "People are complaining but what they don't get is we don't have a side gate or a back door. There is a big scratch on the car where it has been vandalised.

"The builders are sending us letters saying don't park on the car park because it is not done. Even if they do put double yellows here nobody pays the fines. The only people who are complaining about the car are the people making illegal u-turns.

"It is not actually obstructing anything so it's not going to be moved. Even if they do paint double yellows I'm not moving the car. I pay for the car to be on the road and it is staying there."

Councillor Chandra Kanneganti took to Facebook to inform residents of the plans. He posted: "Thanks to the residents who contacted me about cars parked at the junction of Mobberley Road with Kidsgrove Road which is causing difficulties to many with poor visibility of traffic at the junction. The Traffic manager has confirmed that there will be double yellow lines."
