A children's care home is set to open in a residential street in Stoke-on-Trent after councillors gave the green light.
The large detached house in Berwick Road, Sneyd Green, will provide a home for up to four youngsters aged up to 18 and two carers will also be at the property on a 24-hour basis.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council's planning committee granted unconditional permission at a meeting on Wednesday (August 16). A report said the application had been called in to the planning committee for consideration by a councillor who had been contacted by local residents.
But no objections to the proposal was submitted to the council and it was recommended for approval by planning officers ahead of Wednesday's meeting. The report added: "There is a large private driveway and the property has a large enclosed rear garden.
"Staff would not be permanently resident at the home but would work on a shift basis to ensure that 24 hour provision of care/support is being administered to the residents. The home would also have a manager, however the manager would not be frequently visiting the home."
Councillor Dave Evans said: "I think it is important children have a family setting. It is a good and secure house and it seems a really good place to put it."
Councillor Laura Carter said: "This house is in my ward and there has been a lot of work done on the house. It is a very nice house and it will be a nice setting for them to be.
"It's right next to a school and a park. It's got lots of off-road parking and I don't see any issue with it."
