A family-run self-storage company is expanding into the West Midlands after acquiring five new sites as part of its largest-ever takeover deal.

Lock Stock Self Storage, the UK's largest container storage provider, has purchased five former Kwikstore sites across the Midlands, including a facility in Stoke.

The acquisition also includes sites in West Bromwich, Willenhall, Earlswood near Solihull and Kidderminster, adding 500 storage units and four acres of storage space to the company's growing network.

The North Wales-based firm now operates 38 sites across 30 towns and cities, with more than 6,400 storage containers nationwide.

Regional manager Alan Brightmore described the deal as a major milestone for the business.

He said: "We're delighted to have added five fantastic new sites to Lock Stock, and are excited for a new chapter, bringing our brand and expertise to even more customers across the Midlands."

The company says it plans to invest in and expand each of the newly acquired sites as part of its long-term growth strategy.

Marketing and communications officer Ollie Beech said: "This acquisition is another exciting step in our long-term growth strategy.

"We're committed to investing in the communities we serve, creating first-class self-storage facilities and continuing to grow the business through both strategic acquisitions and new developments."

Founded in Denbigh, North Wales, in 2000, Lock Stock now provides more than five million cubic feet of storage space, with containers ranging from 10-foot to 40-foot units.

According to the company, more than 70 per cent of its units are rented by people moving house or storing personal belongings, while almost 30 per cent are used by businesses for stock, materials and equipment.

Mr Brightmore said the flexibility offered by the company's storage units makes them popular with both homeowners and businesses.

He added: "For householders it is a really great way of freeing up space and it is a terrific way of decluttering your home."

The company says all of its sites are protected by CCTV, coded access gates and solar lighting to help keep customers' belongings secure.
