A national retailer is set to close one of its huge stores in Stoke-on-Trent this weekend.

Posters have appeared in the window of Argos, at Festival Park, which read: "From Sunday 25 February, find us in Sainsbury's Argos Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme.

"Shop here until Saturday 24 February."

Customers are being redirected to branches inside Sainsburys' on London Road and Liverpool Road (Nub News).

An Argos spokesperson told Nub News: "We are reducing the number of standalone Argos stores we operate while opening more Argos stores and collection points within Sainsbury's.

"As part of this plan, and regular reviews of our property estate, we have made the difficult decision to close our Stoke Festival Park Argos store this Saturday evening.

"We understand this will be an unsettling time for those affected and we have been supporting our colleagues in every way we can, including exploring opportunities to redeploy within Argos and Sainsbury's."
