More arrests as investigation into Stoke hit-and-run continues

Two more people have been arrested as an investigation into a Stoke hit-and-run continues.

Police were called to Dawlish Drive, Bentilee, at about 6.05pm on Friday 17 October following reports of a crash.

The driver of the car did not stay at the scene and drove off after it happened.

The teenage boy, who can now be named as 17-year-old Alex Woodward, from Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent, died as a result of his injuries in the early hours of the next morning (Saturday 18 October).

Two boys, aged 17 and 16 from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They have since been released under investigation.

On Sunday (19 October), Staffordshire Police arrested another 17-year-old boy, from Stoke-on-Trent, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Today (Monday 20 October), officers also arrested a 20-year-old woman, from an area near Werrington, on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice. She also remains in custody.

"We're keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or those with any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the area at the time," a force statement said.

"Call 101 or use Live Chat on our website, quoting incident 604 of 17 October."
