Man taken to hospital after axe and knife attack in Stoke-on-Trent

A man was taken to hospital yesterday (15 April) after he was assaulted by a group of men on off-road bikes with an axe and a knife.

Staffordshire Police believe the incident happened following an "altercation" on Dividy Road, near Bentilee, at around 3:15pm on Tuesday and the victim was taken to hospital.

Officers searched the area yesterday, which led to a closure of the road, but no weapons nor the suspects were found by police.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and the suspected attackers are described as "white men wearing balaclavas".

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted by a group of men on off-road bikes in Stoke-on-Trent.

"We were called at 3.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 15 April) to Dividy Road, Bentilee, following reports of a disorder in the street.

"A group of men on off-road bikes assaulted a man with weapons, including an axe and a knife following an altercation.

"The victim was taken to hospital by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.

"Officers went to the area and carried out a thorough search but no suspects or weapons were found.

"The suspects are described as white men wearing balaclavas."

Staffordshire Police is urging anyone who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact them. Call 101, quoting incident 401 of 15 April, or use Live Chat on the website.
