A man has been jailed after nearly £400-worth of goods were stolen from shops in Stoke-on-Trent.
Steven Donovon Smith, 37, of no fixed address, was sentenced to eight months in prison at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday (Monday 3 November) after he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop, one count of breaching a criminal behaviour order (CBO) and one count of breaking bail conditions.
Smith stole £385-worth of goods from two shops in Stoke-on-Trent, despite having a CBO banning him from entering them.
The thefts took place between Wednesday 20 August and Wednesday 15 October.
PC Naomi Owen, of the Stoke-on-Trent south problem-solving team, said: "Smith's offending has a profound impact on local businesses across the city, and I hope this sentencing shows that we take theft extremely seriously.
"Since we introduced proactive hotspot patrols earlier this year, we have been able to reduce shoplifting incidents and improve safety in areas with high footfall and I would encourage residents to report any issues to us."
