Man dies following house fire in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has sadly died following a house fire in Stoke-on-Trent on Friday morning (1 March).

Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Glenwood Close, Longton, at around 10.45am.

A police spokesperson said: "The fire had been extinguished by members of the public before our colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service got there. 

Police say they are working with fire investigators to determine how the fire started (Nub News).

"A man in his 90s was found unresponsive inside. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"His next of kin have been informed. 

"We are working with fire investigators to determine how it started."
