Man arrested following derelict building fire in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has been arrested in connection with a deliberate fire in a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Paxton Street, Hanley, at around 6am.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A fire investigation has since determined that the fire was started deliberately and we launched an investigation. 

"A 41-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested this morning (Wednesday 16 October) on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. 

"He remains in police custody while inquiries continue."
