Man arrested following attempted vehicle theft in Stoke-on-Trent

Police have arrested a man after responding to a call about an attempted vehicle theft in Stoke-on-Trent.

At 2.55am this morning (Friday 12 April), police were called to Fife Street in Fenton after a man was spotted trying to drive a VW Caddy out of a compound in the area.

The man tried to drive the car through a fence. He didn't manage to do it and left it at the scene.

A 42-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft (Staffordshire Police).

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We started work to identify the suspect in the area.

"A 42-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft and remains in custody."
