A man has been jailed for 14 years for raping and attempting to rape a woman in Stoke-on-Trent.

Lukasz Wesolowski, 42, of Maidstone, Kent, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court this week after pleading guilty to one count of rape and one count of attempted rape at a hearing in February.

His sentence also includes a lifetime notification requirement on the Sex Offenders Register, a lifetime retraining order and will not be released from prison on licence until a parole board is satisfied that he no longer presents a risk to women.

Lukasz Wesolowski, 42, of Maidstone, Kent, has been jailed for 14 years (Staffordshire Police).

Wesolowski committed these offences between December 2010 and May 2011 and the victim came forward and reported them to police in January 2022.

The Judge described Wesolowski's actions as a despicable act, where he told a pack of lies to influence the victim to live with him where she became lost and isolated.

It was planned with an intention to gain her trust, and due to the actions of a good Samaritan the victim eventually escaped the horrific ordeal.

The Judge commended the victim for her personal strength and determination.
