A man has been arrested following an alleged assault in Stoke-on-Trent.

A 30-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent after Staffordshire Police officers responded to reports of an injured man on The Strand in Longton just after 5:30pm on Saturday (10 January).

A police statement said: "We were called to reports of a man with a head injury on The Strand in Longton by colleagues at West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"He was taken to hospital by ambulance and his condition is not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"A 30-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

"He remains in custody while our enquiries continue."

The police have urged anyone with information to contact them by calling 101 or via Live Chat on their website, quoting incident number 488 of 10 January, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
