Man arrested after woman dies in road traffic collision in Newcastle

A woman in her 30s has sadly passed away following a collision in Newcastle last night (West Midlands Ambulance Service).

A man has been arrested after a woman tragically died in a collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Police and paramedics were called to High Street, Knutton, just after 10.30pm yesterday (25 September) after a silver Toyota Icon collided with railings.

A passenger in the Toyota, a woman in her 30s, was freed from the vehicle. She was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died.

The woman's family are being supported by specialist officers at this traumatic time.

The driver and a second passenger from the car were not injured.

A 22-year-old man, from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. He remains in custody.
