A Stoke-on-Trent grassroots football team have received an influx of support from the local community after their clubhouse was targeted by vandals this week.
At around 5.30pm on Monday (10 April), a group of four youngsters broke into Foley Meir FC club grounds and attempted to break into the clubhouse by kicking the door and throwing paving slabs at windows.
The youths quickly became aware of the cameras around the Whitcombe Road grounds but were not deterred.
Committee Member, James Wildman, told Stoke Nub News: "We shared CCTV footage of the incident on social media to try and find information about who they were so we could provide the police with as much information as possible.
"The video was shared hundreds of times on Facebook and Twitter with lots of people offering messages of support and even one person to help set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the repairs.
"We've also had lots of private messages of support but also from people providing information on who the culprits were which meant we were able to give lots of information to the police."
Thanks to the support from the local community, all four culprits have been identified and Foley Meir FC is in contact with their parents and the police.
James continued: "For us, the outcome isn't just about the club being compensated for the damage or even sending a message to deter others, it's also about helping the kids involved make better choices in future before they reach adulthood where there could be mich more severe consequences."
