LIVE: A-Level results day in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire 2025

Thousands of students across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are receiving their A-Level, T-Level, BTec and other Level 3 results today.
Anticipation, nervousness and excitement will be building in schools and colleges across the area with many students hoping their results will let them get into their first-choice university or apprenticeship.
The timing of when students will receive their grades varies depending on the school or college but some will be collecting them as early as 8am.

3:25pm - Celebrations at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy in Tunstall(St Margaret Ward)
Students at St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy's Trinity Sixth Form are celebrating their A-Level results today with most of them achieving their first choice university placement.
The number of students achieving A* or A has increased and 53% of Btec students received a Distinction or Distinction*.
Principal Dominic McKenna said: "We're really proud of the students and their excellent results. Being offered their first choice university is excellent and to see our A and A* results grow again this year is very rewarding for myself and teaching staff."

The City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College is celebrating, with 98% of A Level students passing their courses and nearly half achieving the highest A*-B grades. Vocational and T Level students also excelled, achieving a 99% and 98% pass rate, with excellence across the board, with most subjects reaching 80% high-grade outcomes.
Principal, Lesley Morrey, said: "As they stand tall today, holding their A Level, vocational, and technical qualifications, we are reminded of the immense effort, late nights, and unwavering commitment that has brought them to this moment. I am deeply proud of each one of them for reaching this milestone, and today we celebrate not only individual successes but the collective spirit of our Sixth Form College community."

Newcastle College students Will Beardmore and Ethan Shrigley (pictured L-R) both received a distinction today in their T-Level qualifications.
Will studied T-Level Management and Administration and is now joining Rolls-Royce on a Higher Level Apprenticeship and Ethan, who studied T-Level Digital Production, Design and Development is starting a Higher Level Apprenticeship at tech company, Capgemini.

A Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College student is heading to Cambridge University later this year after achieving A*, A*, A in A-Level French, German and History.
Lois Cullen is off to study History & German after excelling in research and debate as well as producing creative, well-argued work, while demonstrating outstanding fluency in both French and German, the sixth form college said on social media.
12:30pm - Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College - 98% reach A-Level pass mark(Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College)
The pass rate across all A Level courses is at 98% this year at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College with almost 50% reaching A*-B.

10:50am - Oxford success for Newcastle College student
Newcastle College student Shenay Rhodes-Hall is destined for the University of Oxford after achieving A*, A, A in A-Level English Literature, History and Politics respectively and an A* in her EPQ about the Irish Potato Famine.
Shenay is set to study History at the prestigious university after participating in Oxford's UNIQ programme and the Sutton Trust Summer School at the University of Cambridge during her time at Newcastle College.
Well done Shenay!
10:30 - Clearing hotlines are now open
For those who perhaps didn't get the grades they wanted for their university choice, clearing lines are now open at Keele University and the University of Staffordshire.
Before calling their hotlines, you will need to know your grades, an idea of which courses you would like to apply for, your UCAS ID and UCAS Clearing ID.
9:45am - Freebies and offers for A-Level results day(Nando's Crewe)
Lots offers and freebies are being handed out to students who have collected their Level 3 results today.
Offers from chains locally include a 'free 1/4 chicken or starter with £7 spend' at Nando's, 'free cookie with any drink' at Starbucks as well as a 'free side and drink' at Wagamama (with membership).

08:38am - NSCG principal 'incredibly proud' of students amid results day success
Hundreds of students at Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group have secured places at university or on apprenticeship programmes.
Top performing students at NSCG are expected to progress to a number of prestigious universities across the UK including; University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Keele University, King's College London, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Durham and many more.
- A Level: 1,524 entries with a pass rate of 99.7%. Of these, 58% achieved high grades of A*-B, with 24.4% being A*-A. A total of 85.3% achieved A*-C grades.
- T Level: 96% pass rate, with 73% of students achieving merit grades or above.
- Vocational (BTec): 1,169 entries with a 99.7% pass rate. 56.2% achieved triple distinction grades or above (equivalent to AAA or above at A Level) and 80.2% achieved high grades of DMM or above (equivalent to A*-B at A Level).
Craig Hodgson, principal and chief executive of NSCG said: "I am incredibly proud of the achievements of our Class of 2025. Their hard work, dedication and resilience have truly paid off and it is wonderful to see them secure the grades they richly deserve."
8:13am - Record number of 18-year-olds in UK get into first choice university or college
Just in from UCAS - 226,580 UK 18-year-olds have been accepted at their first choice university or college, which is up 4.5% on last year. This represents 82% of offer-holders who have secured their first choice.
Meanwhile, 26,330 students have been placed at their insurance choice up from 24,850 in 2024 (up 6.0%).
Some students in North Staffordshire will be able to access their results from around now.
7:30am - How to access your results
In half an hour, students will start to be able to access their results.
Some will receive their grades via email but the majority will find out their results in person at their school or college, giving them the chance to share the news with friends and teachers.
If you are planning to go to university, Ucas receives your results directly and will update your application status in the Ucas Hub. This is expected to happen at 8am, but you may have to wait longer for the system to update.
