An investigation is due to be launched to determine the cause of a large grassfire at Park Hall Country Park on Monday evening.

Nearby residents saw the smoke rising from the park just before 7pm on Monday (18 August) and three fire engines and a water carrier were sent to the scene.

The fire measured approximately 30x30 metres and nobody has been reported injured.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 7pm on Monday (18 August) to Parkhall Country Park, Hulme Road, following reports of a fire.

"Four appliances including our water carrier attended the scene and used extended hose reel jets and back packs to tackle a grass fire measuring approximately 30 by 30 metres.

"Thankfully, nobody was reported injured.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course."
