Investigation launched after taxi and passenger targeted with metal pole in Stoke-on-Trent

An investigation has been launched after a man with a metal pole targeted a taxi and a passenger inside in Stoke-on-Trent.

Staffordshire Police received a report shortly after 2.50pm yesterday (Monday 28 September) when a group of men were fighting in the street.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "One of the men, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and white trainers, was holding a metal pole and was swinging the pole at a taxi, a black Skoda that was parked on Stoke Road, Shelton.

"The passenger in the front of the car, a man, was assaulted."

The police force said the passenger left the scene in the car.

The suspect with the metal pole also left the scene in another car, an Audi.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police added: "Footage of the incident has been circulating on social media.

"We're carrying out a number of enquiries and are keen to speak to anyone with any information that could help with our investigation.
