Works on a major roundabout in Stoke-on-Trent are set to be completed this month after months of roadworks.

Work to widen the Marina Way and Festival Way arms of the roundabout at Festival Park started earlier this year.

The final phase of work is due for completion in mid-September, before then, a number of overnight road closures will be in place.

Festival Way – from the roundabout to the bus stop outside the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel - will be closed to traffic from 8pm on Monday 4 September, Tuesday 5 September and Wednesday 6 September, until 6am the following morning.

Marina Way – which runs adjacent to the Odeon cinema - will be closed from midnight until 6am on those dates.

The closures will be in place for road resurfacing.

Work is set to be completed this month on the Festival Park roundabout (Nub News).

Once the roads have reopened, traffic management will remain in place until the overall works have been completed.

Councillor Amjid Wazir, cabinet member for environment and enforcement, said: "This project is part of the wider Etruria Valley Link Road scheme which aims to help alleviate traffic and congestion around the city.

"It has been a complex exercise and we understand that motorists are frustrated but we would ask people to continue to be patient while the final phase of work is being completed, and please remember to take extra care when travelling around the area.

"Earlier this year we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Highways as part of our bid to tackle the challenges faced by the city's road network and we believe that the scheme at Festival Park will play a part in that by helping to improve the traffic flow around the area."
