A fundraiser has been launched in memory of a local man who died in a road traffic collision last week.

Tom Grindley, 21, from Trentham, was driving a BMW when he came into collision with a Renault Clio on the A34 Stone Road at around 8.30pm on Saturday 2 November.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His colleagues at Powerleague Stoke have launched a fundraiser in his memory and at time of writing, over £3,000 has already been raised.

Powerleague will also be raising money during Stoke's home match tomorrow (Nub News).

The JustGiving page says: "With great sadness we lost a son, brother, grandson, colleague and a person that touched all in this past week.

"With support from Tom's family we have set this page up to help the family and in paying respects to Tom.

"Tom was loved by all, if you knew him for three seconds or three years he was a shining light to anyone he met."

Powerleague will also be raising money tomorrow (Saturday 9 November) when Stoke face Millwall at the bet365 Stadium.

In a moving tribute, Tom's family said this week: "Our dearly loved son, brother and grandson, Tom, was so well liked and loved by everyone for his infectious character.

"He was the life and soul of the party and would do anything for anybody, lighting up the room wherever he went with his lovely smile and practical jokes.

"He will be greatly missed by so many.

"Taken from us too soon, forever 21, Tom."
