A fresh bid has been made to demolish one of Stoke-on-Trent's oldest houses, just days after a previous request was refused permission

Ford Green House, on Ford Green Road, Smallthorne, was built in the mid 19th century but has not been lived in for nearly 20 years.

The building has since fallen into a state of disrepair and become a hotspot for squatters and vandalism.

The building was also damaged by a fire in June 2022 (Kerry Ashdown).

The owner, Mr Khan, submitted a planning application to the council in November 2022, seeking permission to demolish the property.

On Friday 3 March, a report was published stating that the application was recommended for refusal.

The report said that the site is of high value to the local area and demolition would have a harmful impact on highways.

A fresh application was made by Mr Khan on 13 March, complete with a demolition statement which states "there is ample space to aid and facilitate the process of careful dismantling" and work would only be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5.30pm.

The application says that if permission is granted, a large 360-degree rotating demolition machine would be used to remove the roof's timber structure and these would be loaded into a large capacity skip.
