A former office building targeted in an arson attack in recent weeks could be transformed into city centre living space.
Plans have been submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to convert Ringway House in Hanley into 18 apartments.
The Bryan Street building was torched in early April. During the height of the incident three fire engines, a fire car, and three police cars were at the scene and an investigation found the blaze to be deliberate.
A response to the application submitted by the city council's highways department said a mix of one and two bedroom self-contained apartments was proposed. It added: "It is not clear if any perspective residents will have access to park on the adjacent site however notwithstanding this, the site is located within a sustainable location within Hanley City Centre and is served well by access to public transport links, local services and amenities and public pay and display car parks.
"Given the sites sustainable location the adjacent highway network is protected with existing parking and waiting restrictions. It is noted that an area of cycle storage is provided which is to be welcomed.
"Considering the site's sustainable location, it would have also been beneficial if residential travel packs could be provided to each unit prior to first occupation. Considering all of the above, the Local Highway Authority would not seek to object to the proposal."
