Fire crews tackling 'large tyres and tractor' blaze in Stoke-on-Trent

Fire crews are tackling a large blaze involving a tractor and tyres in Stoke-on-Trent this afternoon.

There are three fire engines from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue at the scene of the fire at a business premises off Lower Bedford Street in Cliffe Vale.

Nearby residents and motorists saw huge plumes of black smoke before 2pm this afternoon and the fire service is now working to extinguish the blaze. People in the area are being advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

The fire appears to be on the forecourt of the premises, on an industrial estate close to the Etruria Industrial Museum.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We are currently at the scene of a large fire on an industrial estate off Lower Bedford Street, Etruria.

"Three appliances are tackling a fire involving large tyres and a tractor.

"We would advise people in the area to keep windows and doors closed."

Officers from Staffordshire Police are also at the scene.
