A popular fast-food restaurant has temporarily closed following a "pest sighting" - an investigation has been launched.

McDonalds' branch on Victoria Road, Fenton, closed last week and it is not yet known when it will reopen.

A sign on the branch simply says: "We're closed at the moment. We'll be reopening soon. Thanks for bearing with us."

A McDonalds spokesperson said: "Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us.

It is not known when the branch will reopen (Nub News).

"Following a pest sighting, we made the decision to temporarily close our Fenton restaurant so that a full investigation could take place.

"We will continue to liaise with our pest control experts on when we can safely re-open and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
