Eleven firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service travelled to the USA to participate in an "emotional" memorial event marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
A total of 234 firefighters travelled to Atlanta, USA, to take part in a memorial stair climb on Saturday (5 September).
To honour those who lost their lives, the participants climbed 110 floors - the height of the World Trade Centre.
One of the Staffordshire firefighters who took part was Bob Mortimer.
He said: "I joined the service on 31 August 2001 and the events that took place less than two weeks later shaped my entire career.
"The climb was an emotional event; each of us carrying a lanyard with a picture of one of the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11.
"I'm proud to be a part of the organising committee that managed to get hundreds of firefighters representing 96 per cent of UK Fire Services to Atlanta to take part in the memorial stair climb."
