Family pay tribute to 'loving husband and dad' from Milton who died following fatal punch

Family have paid tribute to a a 55-year-old man from Milton who sadly died following an altercation with another man in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called to Millrise Road, Milton, at 9.30pm on Sunday 7 May following reports that a man had been punched.

Neil Gaskell, aged 55, from Milton, suffered a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

An 18-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested in relation to the incident. He was later released on conditional bail with strict conditions.

Neil Gaskell, 55, has been described by his family as 'a loving husband and dad' (Staffordshire Police).

Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, Neil was pronounced dead in hospital on Tuesday (23 May).

In a tribute, his family said: "Neil, known as Big Ne to many, was a loving husband and dad.

"He had a very dry and whitty sense of humour and a big heart.

"He will so very much be missed by his wife, daughter, his family and many friends."
