Stoke-on-Trent's Family Hub services are set to expand in a city market from this weekend.

Hanley Indoor Market will launch new services that allow families to access support from the city centre following the addition of a play area earlier this year.

A dedicated space will open in the market adding to the existing network of Family Hubs across Stoke-on-Trent which offer activities, events and drop-in support to families across the city.

Cllr Sarah Jane Colclough, cabinet member for children's services at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, said: "It's about creating a place where families feel welcome, connected and supported.

Cllr Colclough says the new space will be a 'real asset' to the market. (LDRS)

"By expanding Family Hubs across the city, we're making sure families can access services wherever they live – and this new space will be a real asset for both the market and the city centre."

The area in Hanley also features a mural by local artist Chloe Breeze, who has created artwork across the city, including the recent YMCA canteen mural which celebrates Stoke-on-Trent's history.

The new hub will officially open on Saturday 4th October as part of the Stoke markets' Time Twist centenary celebrations during which Hanley will step back in time to the 90s with carnival games, a movie trail and character appearances.

Family Hubs offer information, guidance and support on topics such as health and wellbeing to families with children up to the age of 19, or the age of 25 for those special educational needs and disabilities.
