Elderly man taken to hospital after car smashes into Stoke shop

An elderly man has been taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital after a car smashed into a shop in Stoke this morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Liverpool Street, Stoke, just after 9am this morning (31 January) following reports that a black Volvo had collided with 'I Wis Framed'.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service told Nub News: "Upon arrival we found an elderly man who was the driver of the car.

"He was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He was conveyed to Royal Stoke Hospital for further assessment."

Contractors are currently at the scene boarding up the shop front and police remain on Liverpool Road.
