Eight weeks of roadworks have started today at a busy junction in Stoke-on-Trent.

Four-way traffic lights are in place along the A34, covering Newcastle Road, Clayton Lane and Godwin Way.

Work is due to take around eight weeks and will see improvements to network efficiency, junction operation, and the introduction of pedestrian crossings at the junction of Godwin Way and the north side of Newcastle Road.

Work on the busy junction is expected to last around eight weeks (Nub News).

Councillor Amjid Wazir, cabinet member for city pride, enforcement and sustainability, said: "All road users are being asked for their patience during this time.

"These road improvement works will help ease traffic congestion along this route and make it safer for pedestrians. The changes will ultimately form part of the Local Transport Plan."
