Dad-to-be jailed for attacking wife on Stoke-on-Trent street during broad daylight

A dad-to-be has been jailed for attacking his wife on a Stoke-on-Trent street during broad daylight - also threatening to kill a witness.

Christopher Lowe, 38, of Gresty Road, Crewe, attacked his wife after seeing her outside her grandmother's house at Westminster Place, Longton on January 1, 2022.

After hurling abuse, Lowe spat, kicked and tried to throttle her.

Lowe had demanded money from his wife and kicked her in the shin after she tried to get away.

The Crewe man put his hands around her throat and jabbed her with a small sharp object.

Later that January, Lowe threatened to stab a female witness if she didn't drop her police statement.

On March 31, Lowe pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm (ABH), possession of a bladed article, and two counts of witness intimidation at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

The defendant, who has 24 previous convictions for 53 offences, was jailed for 30 months.

Lowe was also handed a restraining order against his wife, his wife's children, and the witness.

The witness to Lowe's attack now feels scared to walk in Longton and has regular panic attacks.
