Firefighters were called to a Stoke-on-Trent house after a candle caught fire.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a house on Kimberley Road, Etruria, at 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 May) following reports that a candle had caught fire after being left on top of a cooker

One appliance attended the scene to ventilate the property and nobody was reported injured.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are now reminding people to never leave candles unattended.

A spokesperson for the service said: "Candles are a significant fire hazard in the home, so we are reminding people to never leave them unattended, keep them out of reach of children and away from flammable materials."
