Council plans to build 77 affordable homes on vacant land in Stoke-on-Trent
Plans for 77 affordable homes on vacant land in Stoke-on-Trent have been submitted to the local council.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has submitted a planning application for the "erection of 77 affordable dwellings (20 houses and 57 apartments) with associated parking, landscaping and infrastructure" on vacant land off Booth Street, Stoke.
A Design and Access Statement submitted as part of the application says: "This planning application is to provide housing on a land that is currently disused and create affordable housing.
"The site is currently vacant and with commercial buildings located to the north site and derelict buildings with a disused/unofficial car park area which has no access to the south site. The buildings have been recently demolished.
"The proposal has been designed to achieve high quality, modern residential buildings with a mix of 1 and 2 bed apartments and housing with a mix of 2 and 3 bed dwellings.
"The buildings and dwellings form, height and appearance resonate with the local context thereby integrating the scheme into the existing residential context and will incorporate renewable technology.
"A central car parking area within the site provides 45-spaces for apartments, equating to a 79% parking provision, whilst 20-spaces are provided for houses, equating to a 100% parking provision."
The full planning application can be viewed here.
