A busy road in Stoke-on-Trent has finally reopened, nearly 20 weeks after a fire tore through a three-storey building.

Emergency services were called to Newcastle Street, Middleport, on 7 April and a section of the road had been closed ever since.

Full demolition of the fire-hit building began on 22 July and at the time, Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of the city council, said: "we are one step closer to getting the road reopened.

"We would ask you to please bear with us while this essential work is carried out and we thank you for your continued patience."

The road has now fully reopened and Stoke Nub News has approached the council for comment.
