A series of bus stop improvements are being carried out on a busy road in Stoke-on-Trent this month.

Four key bus stops along City Road, Fenton, are being improved, including raising the kerbs to make it easier for passengers to get on and off the buses.

Work is currently taking place at a bus stop just before the turning for Glebedale Road; traffic control measures are in place and the work is due to be complete by 12 April.

Other bus stops which will be improved are:

  • Just past the junction for Glebedale Road - 12-15 April
  • By the junction for Smithpool Road - 15-19 April
  • By the junction for Errill Close - 18-19 April

A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: "The planned works are part of our ongoing Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) project which is being funded by £31.6 million from the Department for Transport (DfT).

"The works on City Road are expected to be completed this week and will particularly benefit residents with mobility issues, wheelchair users and people using prams and buggies.

Through the BSIP project, we ultimately want to improve our local transport network for everyone and make it easier for residents to get around the city for work, college and leisure."
