British Transport Police issue update after man hit by train near Stoke-on-Trent

British Transport Police have issued an update after a person was hit by a train on Tuesday (25 April).

East Midlands Railway reported at around 6.40pm that a man had been hit on the line between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Uttoxeter at 6.16pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. 

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Tuesday's incident is not being treated as suspicious, say British Transport Police (East Midlands Railway).

Following Tuesday's incident, replacement buses were provided for train stations between Stoke and Derby and people were advised to use alternate services.
