Brewers Fayre in Stoke-on-Trent facing closure

A restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent's city centre is among nearly 200 locations that could close across the UK.
The Brewers Fayre restaurant on Etruria Road, Hanley, which has been in Stoke-on-Trent since 2014, is set to shut as part of wider national closures.
Whitbread, the parent company of Premier Inn, announced that it could close the remainder of its Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants, shutting nearly 200 locations and cutting 3,800 jobs, the Mirror reported.
More widely in Staffordshire, The Redwood in Newcastle-under-Lyme and the Orbital in Cannock – both Brewers Fayre restaurants - as well as the Ladybridge in Tamworth and Longford House in Cannock – both Beefeater restaurants – are facing closure.
Dominic Paul, Whitbread's chief executive, said: "We plan to convert all our remaining branded restaurants to an integrated food and beverage offer that is preferred by our hotel guests and will unlock the addition of more highly profitable extension rooms.
"Our continued efforts to drive our commercial plan and efficiencies will extend our market-leading position and allow us to take share from our competitors, many of which are struggling to grow."
