Various roads will be closed in Blythe Bridge for the next four months as Staffordshire County Council carry out drainage, kerbing, footway and carriageway resurfacing.

The closed roads are:

  • Uttoxeter Road in Blythe Bridge from Grindley Road to Cheadle Road
  • Caverswall Road from Uttoxeter Road to the bridge over River Blithe
  • Grindley Lane from Uttoxeter Road to Sutherland Crescent

Traffic is being redirected along Caverswall Old Road or via the A50.

The affected roads are expected to open again on 17 May 2023 (Sarah Garner).

Temporary signals will be used to control the junction of Grindley Lane/Uttoxeter Road.

Amey Surfaces Ltd have been working in the area since November but the roads were only closed on Saturday (14 January) as they began Phase 2.

Staffordshire County Council say: "Due to the close proximity of the rail crossing and the risk of temporary traffic management/traffic lights conflicting with this, the rest of the scheme will be carried out under a full road closure of the A521 Uttoxeter Road, from 14 January 2023 to 17 May 2023.

"We take care to make sure that work is completed with the minimum of disturbance to the local community but as with any major works, it is expected that delays will be experienced."
